Summary of Application Experience
So...yeah.
I honestly thought this would go easier for me. I wouldn't call it hubris or anything. I just thought I'd be in somewhere by this point.
I didn't get the interviews I thought I'd get. I've interviewed at UMICH, Miami, Jefferson, UF, and NYU. Initially, I was disappointed with my interview offers, but then I grew to accept them and realize that they were still pretty good. Now, I'd be pretty excited to go to any of those places, but this whole post-interview phase has become pretty disappointing too. 5 interviews, 5 waitlists. I'm on the lower tier at UMich, and the 'High Priority' at Jeff. So, now what? I don't know. I feel like I've learned a lot from and about this process, and maybe even about myself, and I'm wondering if it wouldn't even be a great opportunity/blessing to take the next couple years and do something to improve my application. I'm gonna have to think about this a bit, obviously, but I might withdraw from three of these above schools, and see what happens with the other two. And if I don't get in, so what, I'll get in eventually. Probably. In the meantime, I'll gain some much-needed experience.
And my words of advice: Don't take anything in this process for granted.
4/22 - So, I'm not withdrawing from anywhere. If UF weren't so cheap, I'd have withdrawn from there. However, they did the honors themselves today. So, yeah...
6/22 - Nothing has happened in the last two months.
