-I will apply June 4th. Applying as a disadvantaged applicant: born in India, came to the US when I was eight, English is second language, and my family was poor until I was 13 years old. transcripts should arrive by June 15th. pissed about BS score, but not going to do a retake. I know BS is as good as PS though, that one hurts =(. any thoughts on schools, chances, retake, life in general? please leave a comment =)

-July 4th: I have a few secs right now. Sent letters to Yale, SLU, WIS and Columbia. submitted for yale, slu, and wis. Being Lazy with Columbia.
-7/7/08: WIS and SLU are finished!!! Yale hasnt updated their website, but i assume they have the letters but havn\'t marked me as complete. Sending letters to UPENN, George Washington, Michigan State, Thomas Jefferson soon---going to work on their secs while the letters fly! Hope to have about 10 secs finished/letters sent out before June 20th.
-7/12/08: secs are now coming in left and right. Just sending the letters in as soon as i get the secs and holding off on the essays. When the LORS get to AMCAS and are uploaded, i will submit a few schools. Waiting for the UC\'s to tell me something soon. Until then i am just going to write essay and submit one at a time. I dont know about Columbia and Cornell though....feel like i am making a lot of donations now.
-7/14/08: why\'d i apply to so many shcools?! -.- Note to others: apply to schools that screen...you\'d be happier working on their essay prompts then say Columbia, Hopkins...you don\'t want to waste hours on a soon to be rejection!
-7/26/08: Submitted and finished at 13 schools. Waiting to hear about interviews, basically should be in the first batch of applicants. Only done with 1 cali school though, USC. Hope to turn some more around by end of next week....most school should have my letters on file now, its just a matter of essay writing, submitting, and paying. School should mark me complete a few days later.....
-7/31/08. So many Secondaries! Northwestern just sent me theirs, they want it back in two weeks. I should start cutting schools...but fear of not getting in any makes me not want to do this. If I didnt work 40 hours a week i\'d have a faster turn around rate. Oh well, going to keep plugin along. BTW, UCLA sent me a sec, wahooooo.
-8/05/08: first interview invite, NYMC. Haven\'t picked which day I want to go.
-8/20/08: Invites from Vandy, NYMC, and Georgetown. So far so good!
got them scheduled as follows: 9/25 NYMC, 9/26 Georgetown, 9/29 Vandy. Hoping for one more interview invite from the east coast before i book my plane tickets.

--8/23/08 Status Update:
Applied to 37 schools in primary, finished only 22 secs, 4 interviews. Not sure if I should submit the remaining 15....I\'ve held them long enough already, wonder if it looks bad?!
-9/02/08-the interviews havn\'t come in for a while now, and if you exclude VCU, its been three weeks! Hope some more come soon, anyways, heres the plan I think I am going to take
Stop submitting secondaries for now-If I do not have any more interviews by 9/30/08, work on them again
If I do have more interviews, not going to submit secondaries and reevaluate my position on 10/31/08, if I do not have an acceptance, go back and submit secondaries...
therefore, as of now, and assuming i pass the 9/30 and 10/31 benchmarks, I may be done with secondaries!! sweet (maybe).

Interview impressions from 9/25-9/29:
VCU: I liked this school a lot, my interview went very well!
NYMC: I didnt like the school at first, but I enjoyed it more after the tour and such. I think I just had a bad host experience. Interview also went very well.
Gtown: this school was pretty chill, except my interview went horrible! He wasnt very interested in anything I had done and it was just kind of quite for most of the time. I did not like the schools anatomy lab either, kind of a dark and danky place. I think I would like to see this school again if I get accepted, just to make sure I want to go.
Vandy: School is amazing!! The anatomy lab is superb, the campus is awesome, and all the hospitals rock my socks. Nashville is also awesome, I showed up a few days early to enjoy the town. My interview on the other hand :(! I am really bummed about this, I was praying for it to be my best experience. The interviewer was just fine, I just told him my research interests were limited and I was more interested in clinical care. He basically told me Vanderbilt makes good doctors but its focus is on research....saying that if the adcoms like me I really need to evaluate if i want to go there. =/, not a good sign. Too bad....great school. But I had to be honest with him, and I guess he was honest with me.
10-31-08: happy halloween! so far I have heard back from vandy and vcu. no surprises, I got accepted at VCU (yaaa, on 10/15 too, no more worries!) but wait listed at vandy (and i loved the school sooo much). oh well, better than a rejection. I am still waiting for nymc and gtown, plus i got to cancel Wisconsin. I predict yes from nymc and a no or waitlist from gtown (based of of my interviews). Trick or Treat!
11-17-08: Oh many awesome stuff happened so far. So I was wrong about Gtown, I got accepted a few weeks ago! to update thus far:

NYMC: no news until December 15 (they said).

I declined MCWisconsin, and I will call BU sometime this month to say no thanks. Plus UC Davis was weird, I guess they sent me an email 11/4, but I never got it- I checked the page myself 11/17 thanks to a good SDNer. They had some glitches in their system. They told me I still didn\'t have an interview and that 11/4 message was a mistake...and now I have an interview lol. Now to schedule the interview; this is the biggest one yet! If UCD says yes, I will do a lot of withdrawing to open up spots for other people.
12/16 update:
and the coolness continues! got an interview invite from USC! So I now have USC and UC Davis coming up in January! Oh and my publication came out...looks pretty =D. I think I will send an update letter to UCI, UCLA, and Stanford about this over winter break...hopefully they dont send me a rejection before that! This may be my only chance at California...but I am sure I could get acclimated to the East Coast. Oh, and on the best note, 12/18 I am done with finals and all of my pre-med, major, ge classes!!!!!!!!! I am no longer pre-med, assuming I pass lol.

Interviews are all finished. I do not have any more invites, so nothing to look forward too. I never did send that update to UCI/UCLA/Stanford...maybe later. I guess the next step is to fill out the FASA and wait for financial aid packages, wait for word from UC Davis and USC, and then make my decision before the deadline.

Sent update to UCI, got an interview! sicck. still waiting on Keck and Davis, in the process of filling all tax information and filling out FAFSA with most recent tax info.

Just got a phone call from the admissions director at UC Davis. Best phone call ever! I guess this thing is pretty much done, unless Vandy or Gtown offer a full ride (LOL!). thanks everyone for reading along, i\'ll do one final post to confirm my migration 157 miles north of my bedroom.

And here is that one final post as promised. I am heading to Davis next week, bought a condo, gona get used the area before school starts. Also going to Lake Tahoe for two days...I\'m gonna like this Davis thing. Goodluck future applicants, hope you all enjoy the ride like I have... =D
