    Summary of Application Experience

2008 applicant who graduated May 2006, waiting on AMCAS to finally get their rear in gear and post the application. I'm a worrier, and so am super nervous about this whole thing. Didn't have any clinical exposure in college (was research track for most of it, see volunteering and current employment). Cramming all of my clinical EC's when I started my job, currently attending 2 clinics/wk. Shadowed random ER physicians when they let me. Will be working until school starts in 2008.

    TIMELINE!!

5/3/07: AMCAS finally came out. Filled it in and finished with it at 2:40AM. Yay for coffee.

5/10/07: Transcript from community college (calc1, summer freshman yr) has been received by AMCAS. Come on alma mater, you can do it!

5/14/07: Transcript received from MBC! Ye-yah, represent.

    6/05/07: AMCAS submitted

6/06/07: AMCAS HAS BEEN VERIFIED! Dang, that was quick. Respect to AAMC, y'all are really on the ball. Now, we wait for secondaries...

6/25/07: Secondary invites from U Michigan and Columbia. I want Toscanini's. Boston is effing hot.

7/18/07: I've turned in secondaries for 7/15 schools, still steadfastly ignoring Hopkins, but probably should get around to Temple. Finally updated MDapps...

7/24/07: I'm kind of sad that I wasted all that money on Brown. I had no idea they preferred ivies or that they're really gung-ho about in-state residents. Well, I guess it goes to show that research counts! Do you homework, kids.

I really love how the Hopkins brochure is all 'we love everyone and we're not gunners and grades don't really count! *giant fake smile*.' LIES, ALL LIES!

8/07/07: Should perhaps update more often. Getting another recc from a professor for that stupid Harvard research letters requirement. Watch, it'll hold up the proceedings by a month. Shit, I have to write it myself also. This sucks balls.

8/09/07: Don't really have time to list everything going on. But suffice it to say that I'm in the process of writing my own recc letter (again...sigh), and recycling old essays for that Wayne State secondary.

Yeah, and screw you attending physician who told me to apply only top-tier. You're so out of touch with med school admissions.

8/23/07: Where has my August gone? Still filling out the Stanford secondary, but there's light at the end of the tunnel (It's a train, and it's called med school). Damn your letter requirements, Harvard!

8/24/07: Interiew at Mount Sinai!! I lurve them so much right now. YAYZ!!one!

Later on 8/24/07: Holy shit! Tufts!!!

8/29/07: Temple invite. They're so weird.... don't email you or anything, they just expect you to find it some time. Well, probably they assume we're all tools who check our status every single day, which sadly is true.

10/09/07: Wayne State invite. Thankfully, my obsessive stalking of the mailman has paid off in the end.

    12/13/07: Harvard interview.

1/18: Cornell rejection + Stanford's acknowledgment of the withdrawal of my application.

3/15: Shit yo, this is a really tense week for me. I'm still waiting on Harvard. Probably either a waitlist or rejection from Yale, since I didn't get the acceptance email. Wish me luck!
