Summary of Application Experience
7/1/06 TMDSAS, AMCAS and various Texas medical school secondary applications completed. Waiting for the UT Health Professions Office to send my evaluations to TMDSAS. Trying again to get University of Houston to send my transcript to TMDSAS.
7/13/06 Applications are completed.
7/13/06 Call from UNT TCOM -- Interview invite for July 27, 2006.
7/18/06 E-mail from TAMU -- Interview invite for Aug 3, 2006.
7/19/06 E-mail from UTSW -- Interview invite for Aug 19, 2006.
7/19/06 This is sooo exciting getting these interview offers. I'm really looking forward to going on my interviews and tours!!
7/20/06 Email from Texas Tech -- Interview invite for Aug 4th (Lubbock) or 11th (El Paso). I picked Lubbock ... I'll be at A&M and drive to Lubbock after interviewing at A&M. It should be ok, but I would have preferred a gap in the interview dates.
7/27/06 Interviews / Tour at UNT TCOM -- Everything went very well. I really liked UNT TCOM and was pleased with the interviews, tour, etc. Students are happy there and the faculty and administration are committed to excellent teaching. There are clinical research opportunities as well, although I did not have an opportunity to investigate this as much as I might have liked (it might require me signing on to an M.S. program or perhaps not).
8/16/06 More interviews completed up to this point. I enjoyed my interviews with Texas A&M & Texas Tech. Scott & White was particularly nice. I'm leaning toward an integrated curriculum, but my research interests are also important. Interviews have been fun & informative. It's also been nice meeting other MD applicants. UT Southwestern is coming up later this week! Also, I got an invite from Baylor!
10/16/06 Well, it's been more than a month since my interviews at UT Southwestern and Baylor. I liked both of the schools, although my UT Southwestern interviews were a bit more challenging. If I had my dates correct, supposedly Baylor should start letting their most desired applicants know today and the other Texas schools will start letting their most desired applicants know one month from now. After a little bit of a breather, things are getting exciting again.
10/18/06 I got 'the call' from the dean at Baylor. I've been accepted. This was my first choice, so I'm going there.
10/24/06 I received an interview invite from UTMB. I declined it because I plan to attend Baylor.
10/25/06 I withdrew my application from all medical schools except for Baylor, where I plan to enroll. I'm marking this profile complete because I will no longer update it.
