Nonclinical Volunteering

• More than 400+ hours as an English teacher over 1+ year for like 70 different adults. I created all the classes from scratch since the level I taught had never been taught by others. Essentially, it was towards those students that had taken all classes available but wanted to continue to the next level. Contributed much of my personal learning as a college student towards individuals that were in dire need of improving their ability of communicating more efficiently.

• Close to 100 hours, at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Using my experience from research and personal interest in ancient organisms. I have entailed towards educating kids and adults in the Earth-science based knowledge, depending on what stations are opened. Lots of interaction with kids who ask lots of questions.

• Habitat for Humanity – 50 hours or so.

• Tutored a few students at school. (Although, I wouldn’t even say it was volunteering since it was being unaccounted and I did it for fun because I was being nice.)

Shadowing

• Around 50 hours of shadowing the general physician at healthcare for the homeless and 50+ hours shadowing the doctors of various specialties that volunteer at the local clinic. Hospital shadowing during medical school rounds. (UTH and Baylor med students)

Volunteering in Healthcare: Clinical

• About 100+ hours at local clinic. Probably around half of the time shadowing various specialties.

• 260+ hours at Texas Medical Center in various departments but predominantly in surgical intensive care unit and oncology.

• 145+ hours at Healthcare for the homeless.

• Many other experiences while at the hospital such as life flight.

Research

• Involved in 2 different research projects while in college. For one, I worked along with graduate students the majority of the time for 1 year + or so. Second project, I worked on my own for 1 year+. Combined projects amounts to about 2-2.5 years. Occasionally guide new students working on the projects I left.

Honor societies - Just the usual stuff.

• Student Government Association 2009-2010 – Tons of different stuff done.

• Phi Zeta Honor society 2011-2012 - Too much to mention.

Random information

• Work as a web programmer on my free time since I was a little kid. Mostly involved in malware and pentesting.

• Member of The Society of American Magicians (Yeah, I have experience performing semi-pro) Been involved in magic for years.

• Run a popular website for professional magicians only.

• Member of the American Checkers Federation (I play in state-wide tournaments when the time is at my disposal. I was ranking level master since I was about 11 years old.)

• Love writing tutorials about Internet security in various forums online.

• Been handling the security sector of a local Houston furniture company since around 2009. Have to direct presentations to the employees when necessary.

• Avid currency exchanger online. Involved in the world of forex investment and keeping up with trends of fluctuation of different currencies online and in nations.

• Hobbies: Jogging, wood carving, drawing, magic, piano, violin, fixing bicycles, reading about politics and government.
