Brief Profile:
Applying to med school is a really nerve racking process, so I hope that the info I give here will help a few of you when choosing med schools, \"seeing your chances\" (if that is possible in this crazy process), finding areas you want to work on before applying, etc.
I am currently a senior at Rutgers with a Middle Eastern Studies major and biology minor. I am part of the honors program, and am also 17 years old (just turned 17 in August :D). I guess because of my age I am a bit of an odd candidate, but I hope that it does not make too much of a difference in the long run.
Experiences: -Volunteer at Syrian orphanage and Syrian hospital for past 2 winter breaks -Volunteer at RWJ Hamilton Junior Program for past three summers with +140 hours -Spanish Translator at doctor\'s office for past 3 years -Charity Outreach manager of NPAC branch of E-sports networking (company started by my brother and friend) -Shadowed a cardiologist and internal medic (though the internist was my dad...)
I commute and just turned 17 (thus just earned capability to drive), so it is difficult getting involved in extracurriculars at my school, which is a good 20 minutes by train away from home followed by a 10 minute drive home (not counting delayed trains, time waiting to catch a train, etc.)
Other things I included on my application: - Fluent in Arabic, English, and Spanish - I love vidding (if you guys don\'t know what that is, you should definitely find out) - I like drawing manga (again, if you don\'t know what this is, shame on you :D)
