Interview day was really nice. I enjoyed all the students, they seemed kind and well rounded. I enjoyed the faculty I met, they seem to really enjoy time spent with students. TDI is pretty awesome, especially with Park's arrival. It sounds like they are also incorporating some of this health care delivery research into their curriculum which is super interesting. Hanover is beautiful and it made me nostalgic for rural New England. I am not a fan of rural New England as far as patient population, however and would prefer to be somewhere more urban for better clinical exposure in addition to social reasons. In addition, it seems that they have a heavy emphasis on lecture time and while they are in the process of updating their curriculum, it seems that my class would be a guinea pig year which typically results in some growing pains.
10/17/2011 - First Acceptance!!! Feel honored to be an early admit and elated that I will be going to medical school next year, no matter what happens with the rest of the cycle.

Thrilled!!
Hopkins is hopkins. Research opportunities abound and clinical training is second to none. I have my concerns about Baltimore and whether the culture fosters the well-rounded multi-faceted community I'm most interested in. Then gain, these concerns can easily be outweighed by the quality of the education.

I really liked this school's mission of "healthcare for all" and its history of breaking barriers. Thought the campus was very nice, and would love to be in Boston. There seemed to be a general lack of research opportunities, and their focus is mainly on bread and butter clinical stuff.

Because this was my first interview experience, I didn't have much to compare it to. Overall though, I very much enjoyed my interview day and getting to see all that Pitt Med had to offer. They seem to give students a lot of flexibility to cater the curriculum to personal interests. UPMC is impressive. I got the feeling while I was there that UPitt is VERY research heavy, and my faculty interviewer actually mentioned this as the biggest weakness for the school for those interested in other areas of medicine (me). I had trouble getting a feel for Pittsburgh, but just being there, you can tell there's a ton of local pride.
11/15 - ACCEPTED! Very excited, this is my top choice from the acceptances I've received thus far

I thought the interview day here was poorly organized. I spent most of the day sitting in the interview lobby waiting for the scheduled interviews. I really like that Rochester focuses on the biopsychosocial model of medicine, and seems to care more about the patient as a whole than their pathology. I'm not sure how I feel about Western New York.
10/19 - Second acceptance! Thrilled to have options at this point
