Summary of Application Experience

Just as some examples of how "chance" or "luck" factor into the med school game...

I got an interview offer to UC San Francisco (as an out of state applicant), but rejected pre-interview from Stanford, while many people who applied to both schools had the reverse situation.

I got an immediate acceptance to an MD school (OHSU) but waitlisted a DO school (PNWU).

In short: Some schools will like you, some schools won't. Don't let anyone make you think you're a worse applicant because you didn't get accepted to ____________ but they did. They might not have gotten accepted to the school where you applied. Just be happy where you get accepted!
