Summary of Application Experience
Just making one of these so I can visualize my progress.
I didn't apply super early - my AMCAS was verified on 8/6/08, and I was complete at most schools from mid-August to late September - but I don't think it's affected me adversely. I had my first interview in October and my last in February, with the others pretty much evenly distributed between them.
MD/PhD admissions are definitely more competitive than regular MD. Several of my MD acceptances came after MD/PhD rejections. (I applied to a handful of programs in public health.)
My advice: Stay positive and have faith in yourself! Being interesting and sincere counts for a lot in this process (and can make up for a less-than-stellar MCAT score).
