    Summary of Application Experience

    05/20/2008
Just created profile. The schools listed are those I think I'll apply to. I will probably add some, because I just got my MCAT's yesterday (what happened with the writting? AGGGHH!) and need to figure out where I have a shot.

    06/25/2008
I submitted my AMCAS application. I think that it may take a week for it to be verified and sent forward to the medical schools. It took longer than I thought it would to polish my personal statement and my activity descriptions. I applied to nine schools, but I plan on adding more.

    6/27/08
I received email notifications from two schools (USUHS, and Wash U) that I can start filling out their secondaries.

    7/14/08
    Verified by AMCAS today!

I'm sitting in the Columbus, Ohio airport. Tomorrow is probably going to be my final interview. As of now, I've been accepted at USUHS and UVa. I'm going to be a doctor!! I had no idea that I'd be accepted this early, and it feels great. The schools that I may consider over UVa are my state school (University of Utah) and Pittsburgh. Here is a short summary of how things went:

I got secondaries from all the schools I applied to. I received most of them in July and August. I submitted all of them except for Rosalind Franklin and Oregon. I decided not to submit to Oregon because I would probably not have the greatest chance as an OOS applicant (as I was advised in a post below and numerous other people).

The Rosalind Franklin secondary was a pdf file that you had to type into, couldn't save, and couldn't copy/paste your info into because each line was its own text box!!!! Whose bright idea was that?! I decided that I would wait on how my other applications went before I tried to tackle that monster, but now I don't think I will submit it (because I'm going to be a doctor, did I mention that? I don't think I'll get sick of telling myself that).

    10/29/2008
I got into Pittsburgh!!! I was anticipating a waitlist decision, and I got an acceptance letter!!!! This is great! My brother-in-law went to the MSTP at Pitt and loved it so I am very excited. I almost regret not applying to MSTP's but I can still do some research in med school anyway. My main desire is to be a clinician so it will all work out I think.
